Supporting Angling Unity

The key to success in achieving unity in angling will be in gaining the full support of the angling community. Clearly there is support for it in a large majority of those we speak to. It is clear from the support evident across the various angling and fisheries forums, angling websites and publications that there is a willingness to promote support for uniting angling.

More well defined support arrives in the various partners email from their members clearly stating their various individual, club and association support for the delivery of a unified angling body.

This page will carry some of the evidence of this support and will be where we can reciprocate our thanks to those who are making the task more bearable and ultimately more successful, by posting their messages and any links back to their websites, where they are provide links into ‘anglingunity.co.uk’

You may wish to pledge your support and we hope that you will do so to the individual organisations you are members of, any other declaration of support and related website links should be addressed to us by email.

Congratulations to the officers of NAFAC for taking the initiative in being one of the first to recognise and support the forming of a much needed unified group (ANGLING UNITY) as I said at the AGM “We Have been here before. ” But this time it would seem that differences have been put to one side for the future benefit of angling in the 21st century. This is indeed a historical step, now let’s move forward. Well done NAFAC.

Dear Sirs,
I have been asked to advise Nafac and the S&T Association of our full support for your efforts towards angling unity.

Dear Sir/Madam,

As Hon Sec of the Wey Valley Fisheries Consultative Association (WVFCA) I have been asked to write to you on the subject of angling unity. Many of the WVFCA clubs are members of your organisation.

At our last meeting there was an extensive discussion of angling unity. There was a very strong and quite unanimous view that we should enthusiastically support measures towards angling unity and the establishment of one organisation to represent all anglers’ interests. This was coupled with some frustration that previous attempts to establish such unity had not come to fruition. We wish these views to be known to all angling organisations to which we belong or are affiliated. Hence I am writing to you.

I am sure that you are fully aware of the compelling arguments in favour of such unity. Can I ask you to bring our views to the attention of your executive members? If our Consultative can help in any way please let me know. My contact details are given below.

Many thanks.

Yours sincerely,
David Savage (Hon Sec)

My congratulations on your endeavours on achieving unity in establishing angling as proactive conservation minded body that will bring people into contact with their surrounding environment with a proactive educative role in raising awareness of human interaction with their surrounds and the associated diverse wildlife and interelated and codependant ecosystem. The work of NAFAC and others to ensure proper protection of coarse fish by legislation and genuine conservation work with other stakeholder groups such as the RSPB and AONB conservation designated zones with the EA and Natural England. The empirically stated benefits of improving social and economic deprivationand familial cohesion in the face of the pressures of urbanisation will greatly assist and facillitate existing and projected national, local and regionally co-ordinated interagency and GSOE policy initiatives that address and involve the vehicle of recreation and activities that promote and enable people to engage in a shared eco-vision of providing sustainable modes of land and use, health and employment and transport in the immediate future and proactively assist in methods and development that respond and take account of global warming and increased demands on infrastructure. The success of this cohesion will achieve a better quality of life for citizens and future generations to benefit from.
Yours faithfully,

Adrian Nicholas (wightangler)

All the people I have spoken to are of the opinion that one single body to represent all angling etc. is long overdue .

Not only would it give us much more clout but should reduce duplication , giving us much more for our money (we are currently members of ACA , S&TA and NAFAC) .

Although I now concentrate on game fishing I still occasionally coarse or sea fish and think all branches of the sport would benefit .

The Bungay Cherry Tree Angling club and all its members fully support the move to one governing body for angling and offer its full backing to this bold and historically important event. For too long know we have been under represented by those with dividing interests and the move to angling unity will be the turning point for all of us who are passionate about our sport.

United we stand divided we fall, so let the good work commence.

Kind regards

Mark Casto Secretary

Bungay Cherry Tree Angling Club

Dear organisers,
We support all that your can visualise for the future of fishing, and maybe oneday, take the waterways away from the environment agency, and management done by the angling community, who know what is needed.

Fishing is one of a very few sports governed by an outside organisation. This MUST change for the future.
We are big enough ( UNITED) and have enough voices to change it.

Ray Stoner (strikeonebait ltd) and Maggie Stoner the world pole record holder support you to the limit, anything we can do,just let us know.

Best regards and good luck in your endeavours.

Ray & Maggie Stoner

Dear Sirs,

My congratulations to you all for the considerable efforts made in establishing “Angling Unity”. Without doubt this is long overdue, but I believe that by committing to the Angling Unity project, angling as a whole has shown just how far it’s come in recent years; that it has the maturity to put aside any differences of opinion and work towards a genuinely brighter and exciting future for our beloved sport. The Barbel Catchers Club have for many years been members of both the SAA and ACA. We welcome their involvement in the project and wish you every success in reaching your collective aims.

Kind Regards
Jon Elliott.
Hon’ Sec’, Barbel Catchers Club.
